Why can't I smell my candle?

As a manufacturer of over 100 true-to-life aromas sometimes our distributors or customers will contact us and say..

This syndrome is sometimes called 'candle nose', or nasal desensitization. It affects people in different ways. Some people may have a favorite scent they always burn and eventually get so used to it they can no longer smell it. When it comes to OUR candles, be aware it's not the candle, it's the NOSE!

Our candles are maximum scented, meaning we clean burning waxes that hold the highest percentage of quality fragrances available. The aromas we use are premium blends of essential oils and the highest quality fragrance oils ~ only the BEST is in our candles!

Scent Detection

Some people simply cannot smell certain scents, i.e. baked goods, fruits, florals or herbals. They may have something in their system that just makes it so they cannot 'detect' certain notes in a candle blend thus making them feel they cannot 'smell' the candle. For instance most candles are a combination of scents consisting of a top note, middle note and bottom note. The 3 'note' are a musical nasal blend that creates the 'aroma'. Sometimes if someone's nose cannot detect one of these 'notes' the scent becomes void and they cannot smell it at all! This is why there may be 3 people smelling the exact same candle: person 1 loves the candle, person 2 thinks the candle is way too strong, and person 3 can hardly smell the aroma at all.

Burning Candles or Wax Melts

Our fabulous jar candles last for weeks, so sometimes we simply get so 'used' to the smell that we can no longer detect it. You may notice you have the candle burning and think the smell has gone away. Then you go away for the weekend and when you come home all you smell is the candle... You gave your nose a 'break' and then it recognized the aroma again!
